Gardens are a beautiful and eco-friendly way to add personality to your home. Big or small, filled with succulents or wildflowers, your garden is a reflection of your individual tastes. Not only do gardens serve as a lovely display of your favorite plants, but they can also be a fun spot to house unique finds, vintage treasures, family heirlooms, or trinkets from your worldly travels. It's easy to dress up your garden, no matter what your style is or how many knick-knacks you have lying around. Below are 10 of our favorite ways to quickly dress up a garden, so take a look for inspiration and give it a try in your home!

Bird baths and bird feeders come in many shapes, sizes, and styles, and are a lovely addition to any garden. Not to mention, they'll welcome some colorful creatures into your yard!

You can find garden signs at most swap meets or home & garden stores, or you can make your own! Simply paint a wood board with whatever you'd like, from "Mom's Garden" to "Weeds for sale, pick your own!", and hang from a fence or tree, or attach to a stake that you can drive into the dirt.

3. Hang a wind chime or two.

Bring home a handmade wind chime from your next international vacation or even from your local craft fair, and you'll quickly see just how much a touch of one-of-a-kind music can bring to your outdoor space.

Line your garden with a turquoise picket fence, or create a "living wall" with stones or pavers, with interspersed greenery in the plants.

5. Work in some colorful, vintage, or repurposed pots.

Instead of planting all of your flowers in the ground, add some dimension by planting some in fun pots and spreading them around the yard. Flower pots are a great way to add color, whether you find a bright and unique one at the store or paint it yourself. You can also use repurposed items from the local thrift store -- old tin watering cans, for example, or even an old decorative box or basket.

6. Spruce up your lighting.

From string lights to small lanterns with solar panels, there are dozens of ways to illuminate your garden. You can find small lanterns that you can stake into the dirt at just about any home & garden store, and many even come with timers or solar panels so that they'll come on automatically every night when the sun goes down. Another option is to hang your lights, either by stringing them through the trees or hanging lanterns from posts or fencing.

7. Invite your favorite animal in.

It's easy to incorporate a little fake wildlife into your garden but simply keeping an eye out for ceramic figures or decorative pavers. Don't limit yourself to animals, either -- feel free to work in gnomes, fairies, or any other fun creature you think would enjoy living in your garden.

8. Incorporate water features.
If you're not up for taking on a DIY waterfall project, simply set up a man-made pond! Pick up a plastic pond form at your local home & garden store, dig a space for it, and fill it with water -- then feel free to top it with anything from lily pads to rubber ducks!

Hanging plants go a long way to add dimension to your garden. Try hanging some colorful flowers from the surrounding fencing or from tree branches, or plant a tall, hooked iron stake in the ground from which your can hang a small pot. You'll feel like you're in a tropical forest before you know it!

10. Let your kids have a section.

Set up a small fence or rock border around an area in your yard, and let your kids pick how they want it to look! Let them pick their favorite flowers and trinkets, and spend an afternoon with them planting the seeds and decorating their own little garden. If you can’t afford the space, you can always arrange a few pots and let them choose what to plant in them.
