Break Away From Your Valentine’s Day Routine
It's that time of year again where we honor our favorite sweethearts and shower them with our undying love and affection. Whether you're in a new, budding relationship, or the couple that's already had a couple (or 20), Valentine's Day is coming up next week (Feb. 14th) and we have a few creative suggestions to break away from that cliché V-day routine. Be it flowers, cards or candy, chances are, if you are over the age of 20 it's all been done before. Reservations at your honey bunny's favorite restaurant may be too hard to get this year, or maybe you're tired of replaying the same day over and over again (we just passed Groundhog's day). Let your Valentine fall in love with you all over again with these easy and creative Valentine's Day ideas.
For new couples: planning a mini "getting to know you" road trip is a unique way to spend V-day while sharing pieces of yourself with your partner. Take your sweetie to your favorite places growing up, and watch them light up in awe at being able to experience a part of you that they may have never known before. This is a fantastic way to progress and profess your adoration to someone new. You never know, you may just discover a whole new list of favorites with your favorite person.
Experiencing a new activity together is a great way to share a first V-day with your new partner. Depending on your geographical location in February, you could sign up for a new exercise class, try rock climbing, discover a new hiking trail or go paddleboarding for the first time. Sharing the thrill of trying something entirely new and foreign with someone you admire takes the edge off of being perfect and puts the focus back on having fun!
For the couple that's had a couple: instead of heading out into the V-day chaos of restaurants and RSVP's try preparing a romantic meal together at home. Make the entire process of picking a recipe and shopping for groceries apart of your quality time together. Hold each other's hands as you scan the aisles for the ingredients, and splurge on an exotic chocolate for dessert. Pair your homemade dinner with a nice bottle of your favorite wine and cuddle up in the coziness of your home together for a lovely evening in. You can step this idea up a notch and opt for enrolling in a cooking class together to challenge yourselves while learning something new or try one of the delicious recipes from our official WCGB YouTube channel.
Flowers smell great and look beautiful, but they only last a short while. Instead, take your babe to the local nursery and buy some beautiful plants! You can replant them in beautiful pots to arrange inside of your home, or spruce up your outdoor landscaping. You don't necessarily need a green thumb to be able to care for living plants, and they will last much longer than that bouquet of roses. Succulents are low maintenance and look gorgeous in or around your home. Make your own wine cork garden labels by following this easy DIY on our official YouTube channel.
For the couple that's had more than a few: do you have a home improvement project that you've been putting off? Sit down with your love and pick a project that you both want to get done around the house and plan to do it together. When you have been together for a long period of time, it is easy to get comfortable and lose that V-day spark. Showing each other you care by
