Healthy Alternatives for Satisfying Your Sweet Tooth Sometimes you just can't say no to a sweet treat, but surely you know how unhealthy it can be to satisfy that sweet tooth day in and day out with a decadent dish. If you're of the belief that dessert is the best meal of the day -- which, let's face it, it absolutely is -- then perhaps you should try one of these healthy swaps for your favorite desserts! Let us know if they did the trick, or if you have any healthy dessert recipes to share!

Swap the apple pie for a lightened up version of our Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples.

6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/4 C. Sugar
1/4 C. Brown Sugar
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
1 Tbsp. Flour
1 Tbsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Nutmeg
1 Tbsp. Lemon Juice

Combine all ingredients in a lined or lightly greased slow cooker and cover. Set your slow cooker to Low and cook for 4 hours. Once the apples are soft, stir everything to mix thoroughly

and serve warm -- we like it topped with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and paired with a delicious Pinot Noir!

Is a mixed berry pie more up your alley? Try the same recipe, but swap out the diced apples for a combination of blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries.

Swap that slice of chocolate cake for a healthy mug cake.

2 Tbsp. Whole wheat pastry flour
1 1/2 Tbsp. Unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. baking powder Pinch of salt
1 tsp. Coconut oil, melted
1 Tbsp. Nonfat Greek yogurt
2 Tbsp. Almond milk
1 tsp. Pure Maple Syrup
1/8 tsp. Vanilla extract

Grease a coffee mug with nonstick spray. Combine all ingredients in a small blender, and pour into the mug. Microwave at 50% power for 3 minutes. If it's still undercooked, continue cooking at full power in 10-second intervals until done.

Feel like making it a bit sweeter? Top with shredded coconut, mini chocolate chips, or even rainbow sprinkles.

Healthy Alternatives for Satisfying Your Sweet Tooth 3

Swap the oatmeal cookies for these 3-ingredient clean cookies.

1 C. Rolled Oats
2 Ripe bananas
1 1/2 Tbsp. Dried or fresh fruit

In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas completely, then fold in the oats bit by bit. Once the oats and bananas are combined, stir in the addition of your choice -- raisins, dried cranberries, fresh blueberries, etc. Scoop onto a cookie sheet and smash into round "cookies," then bake at 375F for 15 minutes.

Do you still have a craving for chocolate? Swap out the fruit for dark chocolate chips, and you'll feel like you're eating chocolate chip banana bread cookies!
